Ok having been running Backup Exec 2012 for over 12 months and jobs running 100% give or take a few I decided to upgrade to 2014 which I had sitting there since release. Having just upgraded to ESXi 5.5 though this is the time.
I will step out the result.
Backp Exec 2012 on Windows 2008R2 Server - HP 1760 G2 Autoloader.
1. Run installation after no problems with pre check all looks good.
2. Install went well, except it would not recognise why license keys and would only install trial version
3.restarted server, backup exec 2014 starts, all jobs and history maintained.
4. Run job - sits there "Discovering Resources" for hours - tech docs say to apply hotfix. Applied hotfix
5. Restart server - no backup exec server - beserver will not start - now I'm pissed.
6. faulting application name : beserver.exe Fault Module "not known" great.
7. Ran repair on the installation - still the same, this time errors with more errors with .Net
8. uninstalled 2014 completely
9. Reinstalled and restarted server.
10. Currently not in office, and server has not come back ......... will investigate when I get in.
11. Have put in Technical support call regarding issues. Symantec need to know how fustrating this product can be
Advise:- where possible install on a different server than a production one, I know not always possible, but I wish I had.
Really annoyed at this product now.... and haven't even used it !!!! Backups should not be this hard.
