http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO98909 includes the following note:
"In a backup definition that includes a differential task, all of the backup tasks must use storage devices that the same Backup Exec server can access."
I know this to be true because we got bit by it when we had a backup server failure. But why are the other backup servers not allowed to cover for the failed server? It seems like an arbitrary requirement. Clearly, any server could itentify and back up data with the archive bit turned on but for some reason, the design of BE requires that it be backed up by the same server that did the FULL backup. Dumb dumb dumb...
