I have a two-node Hyper-V cluster sharing a Cluster Shared Volume. Backup Exec is backing up our VMs that live on the CSV. I'm trying to do a redirected restore of a single VM to a seperate location on the CSV. (I don't want to overwrite the existing machine...just get at the machine's VHD).
My problem is that no matter how I configure Hyper-V redirection, Backup Exec always tries to restore the machine to the local server's C: drive instead of the Cluster Shared Volume itself. This won't work becuase my C: drive on the host server isn't large enough to receive the restore.
I have specified Hyper-V redirection and selected the CSV from my cluster machine's account (So \\myclustermachine\c:\cluster storage\volume 2\restore folder). I cannot select the Cluster Storage location as a redirect location if I browse to it from the server that backup exect lives on - it just won't even let me click OK to select it. I can only seem to select it if I browse to it via the network and go through the Cluster Machine's account. I'm suspicious since when I do this, the hyper-v redirection screen looks like this:
Restore to Server: \\myclusterserver
Restore to Drive: C:
Restore to Path: Temp Restore Folder
Redirect to Folder: checked
When the resotre runs I get "Temp Restore Folder" created on my Local Server's C: drive.
Any help is appreciated!
